PUBLIC SAFETY
Public safety is, and always should be, our community’s top priority, and I will never apologize for taking that position.
I will always support our law enforcement and firefighters if elected as your City Councilman. Having served as both a Taylor Auxiliary Police Officer and a Taylor Auxiliary Firefighter, I understand firsthand some of the challenges and risks they face.
I will always work with the administration and my colleagues on the council to advocate for the latest technology, equipment, and training to ensure our police officers are protected while they serve, and that our firefighters have the necessary tools to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
In addition to investing in modern fire protection strategies and maintaining well-equipped fire stations, we must also prioritize hiring and retaining highly trained police officers and firefighters. Competitive wages, strong benefits, and a supportive work environment are essential to recruiting and keeping the best talent.
Our first responders risk everything for us, and I will always fight to give them the resources and support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Last winter’s cold weather has once again highlighted the need to continue to invest in our city’s aging infrastructure.
If elected to our Taylor City Council, I will work with the administration to prioritize funding for critical improvements to our sewer and water systems. Our residents deserve a reliable infrastructure that can withstand extreme weather.
Let’s continue to invest in Taylor’s future because strong cities start with strong foundations.
Rental Inspection
If elected, I will work with my colleagues and the administration to strengthen our rental inspection program, as Mayor Woolley highlighted at a council meeting last year.
This includes hiring more inspectors, enforcing existing codes, holding landlords accountable, and ensuring timely inspections so that our renters have safe, well-maintained housing.
A happy, healthy, and productive community all starts with housing.
All residents, regardless if they rent or own, deserve safe housing.
Ensuring Safe and Accessible Sidewalks for All
Winter weather shouldn’t prevent residents from safely accessing businesses and services in our community, and when snowstorms or ice have made city sidewalks impassable, unfortunately, some businesses do not clear snow from the sidewalks in front of their establishments within the required period, making it difficult, if not impossible, for pedestrians to navigate.
Not all residents drive, and they deserve safe, accessible walkways.
Our ordinance reads in part:
“All snow and ice which has accumulated prior to 6:00 a.m. on a public sidewalk adjacent to property not zoned residentially shall be removed by the owner or occupant by noon. Immediately after the accumulation of ice on such sidewalk, it shall be treated with sand, salt, or other substance to prevent it from being slippery, and the ice shall be removed within the time limits of this paragraph.”
If elected to our Taylor City Council, I will review our existing ordinances and work with the administration to ensure they are properly enforced. Additionally, I will explore ways to educate business owners on their responsibilities and encourage compliance, ensuring that Taylor remains a safe and accessible community for everyone.
An Even More Business-Friendly Taylor
Taylor has a tremendous opportunity to create an even more business-friendly environment by leveraging recent advancements in technology and capitalizing on the significant investments that have been recently made in our country.
By marketing what Taylor has in terms of infrastructure and available buildings, and fostering innovation, we can attract new businesses, as well as support current small businesses for both residents and companies.
These efforts will not only strengthen our local economy but also create good paying jobs for our community. With the right policies and investments, we can ensure that Taylor remains a competitive and forward thinking city where businesses thrive, residents have access to new career opportunities, and technological progress fuels our long term growth.
Working together with my colleagues on the City Council and with our administration, we can build a more technology based economy and workforce that will continue moving Taylor forward.

Recreation
Recreation, as I often say, is “something that everyone wants, but no one wants to pay for.” If I’m fortunate enough to serve on our Taylor City Council, I will remain committed to supporting the wide range of recreation programs that make our community vibrant and active.
I’ll also continue to work with our administration to seek out grant opportunities, just as we did for the new pavilion and playscape at our Taylor Petting Farm, the upcoming pickleball courts at Heritage Park, and the exciting extreme sports project underway at Lange Park. These initiatives enhance our quality of life while being fiscally responsible.
As a proud member of the TIFA Authority, I’ve consistently supported improvements to our city’s golf courses and our Sportsplex, because I believe recreational spaces are vital to our city’s identity.
